MAYOR EMANUEL, ALDERMAN EMMA MITTS AND FREEDMAN SEATING ANNOUNCE 200 NEW JOBS OVER LAST TWO YEARS AND OPEN NEW OFFICE FACILITY AT 4501 W. AUGUSTA BLVD.
As a member of the Chicago business community for over 120 years, Freedman Seating Company has produced excellent transportation seating products in an atmosphere which promotes continuous improvement and innovation for our products and personal growth for our employees.
Freedman Seating currently employs more than 750 employees at our Humboldt Park location; nearly 200 more employees since the announcement of CTA’s contract with Nova Bus in early 2013.
With the support of 37th Ward Alderman, Emma Watts and our commitment to Mayor Emanuel’s signature economic development initiatives, including improvements to infrastructure and economic growth, Freedman Seating leadership is proud to announce the opening of our newest facility located at 4501 W. Augusta Blvd. The $10 Million expansion includes 110,000 square feet of renovated manufacturing and office space, allowing Freedman Seating to continue its record growth as a leading employer for Chicagoland’s skilled workforce.
The new space is also a reminder that Freedman Seating is committed to strengthening our relationships with employment initiatives such as City Colleges’ Colleges to Careers Program, Austin Polytechnical Academy, the Jane Addams Resource Corporation, and the Mayor’s Skills for Chicagoland’s Future Program.
On Wednesday, February 4th, 2015, Alderman Emma Mitts and Mayor Rahm Emanual were in attendance for the official opening of a renovated work area for our growing Engineering, Customer Service, and Business staff. The open space facility was designed to promote team development, product innovation, and professional growth in an urban setting.
A press conference introduced the event, held inside Freedman Seating’s 375,000 square foot manufacturing plant. “Investment in the West Humbolt Park and Austin communities is critical and helps create an upward cycle of success,” said Craig Freedman, President. “Together with the support of our partners such as the Illinois Financy Authority, Chicagoland Manufacturing Renaissance Council, Austin Polytech, Greater Northwest Development Corporation, and Jane Addams Resource Corporation we have taken one small step in moving our community forward.”
The event was televised by local media outlets and streamed live online. Watch the press conference and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony.
