Starting the week of September 21, Freedman Seating is transitioning to a new supplier for all 2-Point, USR-Under Seat Retractor seat belts. This is a soft cut-in, so specific product line implementation dates may vary slightly depending on current inventory levels.
Key Information & Compliance
- Safety & Reliability: The new heavy-duty belts meet or exceed all applicable safety standards, including FMVSS 302 and 209. Extensive testing confirms equivalent fit, form, function, and performance.
- No Retesting Required: You do not need to retest any seats or vehicles. Seat belts are replaced with test cables/belts during testing and are not a factor in FMVSS 207/210 compliance.
- No Action Needed: Standard operations remain unchanged.
Design & Compatibility
- Visual Difference: The overall shape of the belt has been updated slightly (see photo below).
- Backward Compatibility: The new belts can be retrofitted to older seat frames using a new hardware kit.
- Extension Belts: Belt extenders are not cross-compatible. If extension belts are required, ensure you order those designed specifically to mate with the new 2PT USR model.
- Affected Models: Any product line currently utilizing 2PT USR seat belts.
